Practical info

Flight tickets
You are responsible for finding and booking your plane tickets/transport. I would recommend that you buy flexible tickets where the dates and destinations can be changed if necessary. As mentioned, sailing is always characterized by unpredictability and even though I try hard to adapt pick-up and drop-off locations and dates, situations may arise where it is necessary to make changes. Here, expenses for changing tickets, any hotel accommodation etc. is paid by you. There is also no compensation for changes to sailing plans.

It’s noteworthy that this hasn’t happened ever, it’s just a precaution cause a lot of things that is out of my hands can happen.

Insurances
In order to be part of the crew, you must have a travel insurance and that it covers liability, illness and transport home. If you are going to dive en route, it is very important that your insurance also covers recreational diving down to 30 metres. (You can find good diving insurance via Dan Europe)
If you destroy or lose something you are responsible for, or can be held responsible for, then it is really good to have liability insurance. For example if you tie up the dinghy with a bad knot and it goes up and it disappears, well, that’s your responsibility. Incidental accidents are paid for by the ship, but if it is a lack of timely care, then it is your responsibility.

It is not uncommon that people lose a phone, so it could be a good idea to make sure you phone is covered and/or bring a backup.

Once you have ordered your insurance, please send me a copy of your policy.

*Insurance is not something you should save on when you are on an active holiday out in the world!

Visa
Remember to check the visa regulations for the country(s) you will be sailing with and be aware that there may be a waiting period for these to be issued – just as the requirements can vary greatly. If you don’t have a Danish passport, i don’t know anything about the visa rules for your country.
Make sure you have the recommended vaccines and bring recommended medication (e.g. malaria pills) to the area you will be sailing in. Consult your own doctor for further information.
